Trust in Australian public services

False

Theme: Cohesive
Dimension: Trust in institutions

Metric

Proportion of people who trust in Australian public services

Why does this matter

People have more satisfying lives when they live in an environment characterised by trust in each other and their institutions. Trust in Australian public services is a signal of good governance.

Has there been progress

In June 2022, 61 per cent of Australians agreed that they trust public services, compared to 57 per cent prior to the COVID‑19 pandemic (June 2019). Trust is high across all services, however, it does vary by service agency and also across life events. People who use public services express greater trust in the services than people who do not.1
